Šibenik town
is the oldest native town in Croatia & on the Eastern Adriatic coast. It was first mentioned in the royal paper signed by King Petar Krešimir IV, after whom the hotel was named. The king and his entourage settled in Šibenik in St. Michael's Fortress that was first mentioned as castrum, which usually means a fortified town.
The Cathedral of St. James
This UNESCO cultural site is a stone wonder that must be seen. The structure is built entirely from stone using unique techniques for the vaulting and the Cathedral dome. The decorative elements, such as 71 sculptured faces of men, women and children from those times, illustrate the fusion of Gothic and Renaissance art. St. James Cathedral is one of the most significant architectural achievements in Croatia.

Its first owners, the Divnić family, were a noble family that led a rich social life and had cultural influence in Croatia and Europe. Musical evenings organized by the National Theatre were held in the palace in the beautifully painted salon and today you can witness an impressive fresco on the ceiling. The first lamp installed 125 years ago can be found on the corner of the hotel, as a reminder of history since Šibenik was the second city in the world with street electricity. The building’s Gothic phase is represented by a portal from the 15th century that leads to the reception desk today.
